Mexico Middle School

Mexico Middle School is proud to serve Mexico’s 6-8th grade students by executing our mission with fidelity daily:

Making Minds Stronger

Within our walls, you will find first class teams of teachers and students working and learning together.  MMS faculty and staff are dedicated to helping our students grow into successful young adults.  Our vision for all of our students:

Educating, Engaging, & Empowering Students to Become Lifelong Learners

Building Goals:

Goal 1:  76% of students will meet their individualized reading goal or be on grade level by the end of the 2018-19 school year.

Goal 2:  84% of MMS students will fall in the first tier of the behavioral triangle, earning no more than 2 discipline referrals during the 2018-19 school year.

Goal 3:  90% of MMS students will attend school 90% of the time during the 2018-19 school year.

MMS Activities:

AG Club:

Athletics:

The 7th Grade MMS Basketball tournament is November 8,9, and 10th.  Come on out and cheer our 7th grade Dogs on to Victory.

Wrestling at Eldon Thursday at 5:00.  See you there supporting our MMS Wrestlers!

The MMS Winter Athletic Calendar is available on both the MMS Athletic and the MMS Flyers pages.  The is a comprehensive calendar of all three Winter Sports: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Wrestling.

Attendance:  209 MMS students qualified for our October Attendance Incentive Bus Ride to Town.  We are so proud of the students who made such an effort to be here all day every day!  6G will be going 11/07, 7G will be going on 11/08 and 8G will be going on 11/12.

We have an incentive to reduce tardiness in the building.  Now through November 13, the grade level with the lowest percentage of tardies will be rewarded by getting to go watch the MHS production of "Oklahoma" on November 15th.  The production stars students from both MHS and MMS.

The next attendance incentive runs from November 15 - December 18th.  The reward for 100% attendance is Talk and Tech during Growl.  Be here all day, everyday!  To qualify for the 100% attendance incentives students may not miss at all except for school-sponsored events.

Builders Club:
Our November meeting is November 16th during Paws.

Earbuds:
Earbuds are available during the school year for $2.00!
Students need earbuds in many of their classes.  They can bring their own or purchase a pair from the school.

Fees:  Parents, please checks your student's fee in the portal and contact the school with any questions.  Any 8th grader with an outstanding fee will not be allowed to practice promotion or walk across the stage for 8th grade promotion.

Athletic fees are added if equipment or uniforms are not turned in immediately after the sport is concluded.  Be sure to turn yours in!

Lost and Found:   The Lost and Found is getting overloaded.  Please check there first for any missing items.  There are coats, books and various other items you may be missing!  All items left at the end of the term are donated to the Help Center.

Reality Store:  MMS 8th grade students and students from surrounding areas will participate in the Reality Store this Thursday, November 8th.  Each 8th grader will get a chance to work with local area merchants, bankers and business leaders to learn how to manage personal finances, living expenses and well, Life on their own after high school or college!

Student Council (STUCO) MMS stuco attended the State Conference this past Friday.  It was an exciting time for all of our representatives who were able to attend.

YAG:  Youth and Government are going on their annual trip to the State Capital November 8 and 9th.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get an idea of how state government works and participate in a mock government!  We are happy to work with the YMCA to make this happen.  Thank you, Ms. Leslie Nichols, for your continued support.

MMS Handbook:

Parents, please be sure that you take the time to read and review the Middle School Handbook.  Our handbook is an important part of Middle School life.  It has our Vision, Mission, and policies within.  Your partnership helps us to live our Vision - "Education, Engaging, & Empowering Students to Become Lifelong Learners."
